THS Annual Conference

This years AGM was held on the 19th & 20th of May at The Palace Hotel in Torquay, one of the leading hotels in the South West.

Beautifully situated in extensive grounds, the pale green building is a local landmark with an enviable reputation for the highest standards of cuisine, accommodation and hospitality. Although opened as a hotel in 1921, the Palace is actually a considerably extended version of a private house built originally in 1841, and has a distinguished history to match its imposing façade.

The majesty of the hotel is more than matched by its extensive 25 acres of grounds, incorporating beautifully landscaped gardens, sunny terraces and woodland offering an oasis of calm.

Whilst the Conference was taking place, partners, children and guests were given the opportunity to be taken on an outing to Kents Cavern where they were given a tour of one of the most important Palaeolithic caves in Northern Europe and the oldest recognisable human dwelling in Britain. Following the buffet lunch, the afternoon sported the THS Golf Tourney in the magnificent grounds of the hotel where this year 15 golfers were ‘playing to win’ the accolade “THS Golfer of the Year” and the Golf Trophy.

The Conference finished on Saturday evening with a 4-course Gala Dinner, after which the presentations for “Member of the Year” award and Golf Trophy were held. Thereafter, there was entertainment with an After Dinner Speaker, Ian Richards, and the Ricochet Roadshow Disco.
