With the continued growth of market share enjoyed by large national distributors, many independent businesses are at a distinct disadvantage, not having access to the buying power, market presence or the resources generally available to larger organisations. As such, margins are shrinking and the ability to address and capture additional market share is becoming increasingly difficult.
It was with these same issues in mind that the THS Tools Group was formed in 1975. Since then, THS has been assisting independent distributors to develop and grow their business, increasing their margins and sales through lower costs and the added benefits that the membership of a buying group offers.
Using the buying advantage of aggregated volumes and the increased opportunity and cost benefits that THS presents to its network of leading brand suppliers, THS is able to attract ongoing preferential buying advantages in addition to an extensive product range that could not be achieved via an independent distributor.
Adding real business value
THS is more than a supply chain partner, giving Members the ability to manage a wide range of relationships and a product portfolio to equal that of large national distributors. Product availability is a key factor for a profitable business and without the support of THS, minimum order levels would prevent smaller distributors from including certain products in their range.
THS now has a membership encompassing over 130 distribution outlets ranging from small family owned companies to larger regional businesses across the UK. All of these continue to see tangible business benefits and measurable results in being part of the THS Tools Group.
THS Members benefit through core value propositions such as increased sales from proactive marketing and sales activity together with increased margins through effective supplier initiatives.
Increased sales
THS supports its sourcing and purchasing power with an intelligent marketing strategy including a program of events, initiatives and a range of regular promotional collateral with attention grabbing designs and pages packed with great deals for the end-user. Members benefit from the support of marketing professionals to provide an ongoing level of business generation and raising profiles at a level that an independent distributor would not have either the resources or budget to achieve.
Through its established bespoke promotional offer publications, Toolstop, Toolstop Extra, Toolstop Additions & Power Toolstop, THS gives Members the opportunity for regular sales contact with their individual customer/prospect database. The website also gives access to promotional material via a series of publication downloads.
As key annual calendar events, both the THS Conference and THS Exhibition provide Members with a valuable opportunity to meet with other distributors, suppliers and the THS team all ‘under one roof’ to share industry views, issues and discuss new initiatives.
Suppliers have access to Members via a variety of formats: weekly bulletins, training sessions, trade shows and THS based events.
If required, some suppliers will tailor their product catalogues for Members to ensure the maximum promotional value for all parties.
A Members only area is available via the website for Members where upon registration they have access to private and confidential information such as supplier terms, product portfolio, etc. It also provides an email facility where Member distributors can share views and provide opportunities for further collaboration with suppliers.
THS provides ongoing business support to its Members via a dedicated Business Development Executive who will offer advice to help overcome any issues and to exploit all sales opportunities to maximum effect. In addition, THS support Members in strategic or national contract opportunities to promote the wider strengths and commercial benefits of partnering with a THS distributor.
